The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research

For her Giving Back charity for the month of February, Dispatch Coordinator Jessica Thatcher chose The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in honor of her late Grandpa. Jessica said ‘My Grandpa was diagnosed with Parkinson’s when I was still in grade school. He was a very accomplished Architect in Omaha, and I remember watching him draw beautiful homes and once wanted to do the same. Its a very hard thing to watch someone who had so much talent and slowly lose his ability to do the simple tasks many of us take for granted. There are many implants that a patient can have, his was implanted in his brain to help curb the tremors but it never lasted long or got rid of the tremors. Hoping one day along with many other illnesses that Parkinson’s will be one less thing our future generations have to worry about.’
